Progress and attainment in English and Maths at Key Stage Two has been consistently outstanding for the last 8 years – refer to RAISE Online/Data Dashboard (2016) and the sections on attainment and progress in our OFSTED SEF (2017)

The number of pupils achieving higher levels at the end of Key Stage One and Key Stage Two continues to remain exceptionally High and SIG+

In Summer 2016 the school was above the floor standard in both attainment and progress. The Inspection Dashboard (2016) concluded that there were no areas of weakness.

The proportion of pupils attaining the expected standard or greater depth in reading at the end of Key Stage One was above the national picture.

The proportion of pupils attaining the expected standard or greater depth in writing at the end of Key Stage One was above the national picture.

The proportion of pupils attaining the expected standard or greater depth in maths at the end of Key Stage One was above the national picture. 

This proportion was above the national picture particularly for those pupils who left the EYFS at expected. Pupils’ attainment at the end of KS1 is very strong.

The current Year 2 are on track to continue this positive trend

61% of pupils nationally reached the new expected standard in reading, writing and maths compared to 94% of pupils at The Blue School.

77% of Year 6 pupils nationally made the expected standard in grammar, punctuation and spelling as opposed to 93% of Y6 pupils at The Blue School.

76% of Year 6 pupils nationally made the expected standard in writing as opposed to 93% of Y6 pupils at The Blue School.

71% of pupils nationally made the expected standard in reading as compared to 97% of pupils at The Blue School.

75% of pupils nationally made the expected standard in maths as compared to 93% of pupils at the Blue School.

In Reading 63% of our pupils achieved Above Expected

In Maths 37% of our pupils achieved Above Expected with a further 9 pupils only a few marks off 110/120.

Our Year 1 pupils achieve significantly higher than National in our Phonics check.

  • The proportion of pupils at the end of Year 1 who reached the national benchmark for the phonic screening check was above the national average in 2017 (100% v 77%). 
  • For the last 3 academic years results in Year 1 Phonics has been exceptional.
  • Phonics has been consistently strong over the past 5 years.
